Trees of Righteousness
Scientists attempt to define man by their tables and schemes. ‘Man is an animal’ some say and others ‘man belongs to mammal group’. While there exist features that man can be classified by these characteristics established by science fail miserably to do true justice to who God said and designed man to be.
Awesomely and Wonderfully Made
As God is Creator of man, His handbook – the Word – should be and is the expert authority of who man is. Psalms 139: 13 – 16 declares,
Oh yes, you shaped me first inside, then out;
you formed me in my mother’s womb.
I thank you, High God—you’re breathtaking!
Body and soul, I am marvelously made!
I worship in adoration—what a creation!
You know me inside and out,
you know every bone in my body;
You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit,
how I was sculpted from nothing into something.
Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth;
all the stages of my life were spread out before you,
The days of my life all prepared
before I’d even lived one day. MSG
This is what God has declared concerning man. He isn’t just a mammal nor just some instinctual animal; Man is a wonder and a work of masterpiece by the Divine and Perfect and Awesome God, Creator of all!
However, with the Word of God (God’s personal and insightful thoughts) being the authoritative expert of who man is, let us further see how God sees man. Psalms 1: 2 & 3,
Instead you thrill to God’s Word,
you chew on Scripture day and night.
You’re a tree replanted in Eden,
bearing fresh fruit every month,
Never dropping a leaf,
always in blossom. MSG
God sees man as a tree, one who relies on His word for refreshing and nourishment, and hence He is planted by rivers of water (the Word). Even anatomically man is a tree externally and internally. How you ponder? Stay tuned for the next part that you may know You and I are Trees of Righteousness!
