New Every Morning!

An old school song which I sang in Primary School went like this:

New every morning is the love
our wakening and uprising prove;
through sleep and darkness safely brought,
restored to life and power and thought.

How often do we wake up and consider, that it is only by the love of God that we are able to survive every night, and rise to a fresh day. Have you ever considered all of the possibilities that could occur while we sleep? Just to think about them alone is mind-boggling. Yet, we are able to rise up refreshed, charged and ready to face the possibilities which each day brings.

What then should be our attitude every morning? Let us look at verse two:

New mercies, each returning day,
hover around us while we pray;
new perils past, new sins forgiven,
new thoughts of God, new hopes of heaven

Our attitude should be one of thankfulness, consider the new mercies that are now yours as you face the new day, and give thanks, consider every possible peril, disaster that could have occurred which could have ended your life, and give thanks, consider that even as you slept, the blood of Jesus was at work on your life. Have fresh new vision of God today, have a fresh hope, see yourself seated with Christ in heavenly places. Be happy, sing, praise, embrace the new day.

If on our daily course our mind
be set to hallow all we find,
new treasures still, of countless price,
God will provide for sacrifice.

Today is a brand new day, new perspectives, new insights, new challenges, new opportunities, but God has everything under His control.

So face this new day with excitement. Have a glorious, confident, expectation of good.  Today is a brand new day, the night is passed, wake up to the glow of the sunshine of God’s Love.
